Rejoicing of God’s goodness, even in bad times.

4/28/2013

"... the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD."  Job 1:21b

God has given Christians grace so we can rejoice when life gets tough.  I could spend a long time telling you about, no doubt.  But there are also good times and how you handle the bad times and how you handle the good times is dependent on the type of attitude that you have.  There are some people that are just "hunky dory" and smiling and everything’s going right as long as everything is going right.  But as soon as something bad happens, they get real grumpy and they start blaming everybody.  That’s not the way God wants us to be.

He wants us to rejoice and again He says rejoice.  But in order for us to rejoice, we have to have his grace.  Having the right attitude and allowing His grace to flow through us will let us get through.  You may not laugh in the middle of turmoil; but there will be an inner peace that allows you to get through the turmoil without biting everybody’s head off.

God wants us to handle everything with a rejoicing attitude, and we do that through His grace.  We must allow His grace to work in our lives.   The definition for grace is the divine influence upon the heart and its reflection in the life.  In other words, you let God work in your life and then let it flow out so other people can see it.  We become a conduit.  We become a means of transporting God's grace so that everybody can see it in our lives.  If we tell everyone God is good, God can help you, God is merciful, God is gracious, and then something bad happens and we are screaming, yelling and blaming others – those we are trying to witness to might say - What kind of God do you serve?  Do you only serve a happy God?

No, we serve a mighty God, amen?  And he wants us to be rejoicing no matter what happens good or bad.
